ArtHistory.News is an ever expanding, independent resource on art made up to and including 2000, with particular attention to twentieth-century British and American art and to sixteenth- and seventeenth-century painting. Current research, books and exhibitions about that art are in scope. The date limit applies to the art, not to the date of the news.

We follow discoveries, exhibitions, conservation, scholarship and the movement of works between collections. Our aim is to explain what has changed, why it matters and what remains uncertain.

Reports draw on original announcements, specialist reporting and attributed expert comment. Research and drafting may use automated tools; every article requires editorial review before publication. Sources are linked so readers can follow the evidence.

Our artist records bring that reporting together over time. They grow with the publication, connecting new developments to earlier coverage.
