The open-access issue brings together studies of Hapsburg patronage, Rubens’s globes, Rembrandt print paper and the authorship of two paintings associated with Johannes Vermeer.

Volume 18.1 \(2026\) of the Journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art has been published on jhna.org, according to an announcement by CODART. The refereed, open-access issue contains four articles, from Renaissance court sculpture to questions of authorship in two paintings associated with Johannes Vermeer.

Jens Ludwig Burk, Dagmar Eichberger, Šárka Radostová and Kristina Uhlíková examine Conrat Meit’s marble busts of Philibert II of Savoy and Margaret of Austria. CODART places the study in the context of Hapsburg court patronage.

Aaron M. Hyman’s ‘Global \(In\)Attentiveness in the Age of Rubens’ addresses Peter Paul Rubens’s artistic liberties in rendering globes. CODART identifies the subject but does not set out the article’s argument or conclusions.

The issue also includes a technical-digital study by C. Richard Johnson Jr. and Andrew C. Weislogel, ‘Assisting Creation Dating of Rembrandt Prints Using Exact Watermark Matches Between the Prints and Seventeenth-Century Dutch Documents’. Its stated method is to aid the dating of Rembrandt prints by matching their watermarks exactly with those in Dutch documents from the seventeenth century.

Adriaan E. Waiboer’s ‘Vermeer in Dispute: The Authorship of The Glass of Wine and The Love Letter’ reconsiders the authorship of the two works. CODART presents the subject as an attributional dispute but gives no attributional outcome.

JHNA says it publishes peer-reviewed scholarship on Dutch, Flemish, German and Franco-Flemish art and material culture from the medieval period through the eighteenth century.
